I have a different experience. Well, not totally different but we saved our Wintergrasp lots of times. Also during wotlk when wintergrasp time come it was every 4 hours because people were raiding in vault of archavon to gear their chars ; you used to take portal from dalaran to go wintergrasp.
All workshops were neutral , so we used to split all around the map. And first fight never won wintergrasp. This topic was automatically closed 30 days after the last reply. Whichever side controls the prison on Tol Barad gains access to more dailies and the dungeon instance of Baradin Hold. At the beginning of the battle, the faction that won the last one is set as "defending" while the other is "attacking".
Defending players start on top of Baradin Hold players can float down the central chains or off the edges , and attacking players start on the Blackstone Span.
To win, the attacking force must capture all three buildings at the same time: Ironclad Garrison to the north, Slagworks to the southeast, and Warden's Vigil to the southwest. The battle lasts for 15 minutes, but can be extended by 5 minutes for each of the towers the attacking force can destroy using the Abandoned Siege Engine which can be piloted by any attacker who has earned an honorable kill in the current battle.
The defender's goal is primarily to prevent the attackers from capturing all 3 buildings, and secondarily to prevent the extension of the battle time by destroying the active Siege Engines. Buildings are captured by a simple presence mechanic - the faction with the higher number of players near a flag will move the capture meter in their favor over time, very much like Eye of the Storm.
The rate of capture based on presence is steady but is affected by two new mechanics. Each time a member of one faction is killed in the immediate vicinity of the flag, the capture meter is "nudged" in favor of the opposing faction. The time-out between battles is 1 hour. Winner is rewarded 3 per battle and 3 for weekly quest [35] Victory in Tol Barad.
Several daily quests become available to the controlling faction in between battles in the center of the map at Baradin Hold. One set of quests is always there, the other focuses on one of three cellblocks around the island.
Tol Barad , the site of many historic battles in the Second War , is an island part of the nation of Kul Tiras and is now home to a magic prison. Wizards from both Dalaran and Stormwind oversee the complex, and prisoners include enemy mages , lesser and greater demons , warlocks and undead war criminals. At some point, the naga attacked the prison and even though the wizards fought them off, Zae'Rathis the Mad , a dangerous blood elf evoker prisoner, escaped amid the confusion.
Zae'Rathis is now at large and Kul Tiras ' citizens are afraid. The wizards suspect that the naga attack was intended to free the blood elf and he may have joined them. Together they would make a powerful force so the wizards are in need of someone to track down Zae'Rathis and destroy him. The goblins of Bilgewater Port sent the Fearsome Yacht prison ship to Tol Barad in order to imprison there an orc warlock called Dak'mal who had been causing trouble on Kezan. The strange, dark magic that has raised many of the inhabitants of the island's north, both recently killed and long dead, as various forms of undead is almost surely the same cause behind the insanity within the prison complex.
It is possibly the result of the powerful demons held within Baradin Hold, but many of these creatures appear to have been let out by their own jailers, the deranged Wardens seen across Tol Barad, in league with at least some of their former prisoners. As such it could be feared that whatever ancient horrors lurk beneath the Great Sea are behind the madness of all Tol Barad. Alternately, Alizabal and the other demons did do it.
Tol Barad's position in Warcraft II. Comment by There are no lists that keep track of wins etc. That'd be nice. Comment by The new tol barad raid like Vault of Archavon Baradon hold is the new raid, and like wintergrasp you must control Tol Barad. I hated Tol Barad. I vowed never to return after I got the mounts. Doing daily after daily and getting ganked constantly, was taking it's toll on me. Tol Barad was giving me a headache because I'd get angry at Ally for gankin' me constantly, and the mobs in TB are totally relentless and far too annoying, with their constant grunting and yelling with each blow, totally relentless.
So, I found that within one day of not doing TB, I was almost missing it, I Que'd, went in, we lost it, I gathered a group and we went ally hunting! Also, I have found that you may think you are losing Tol Barad when you are in control, and all of a sudden, Vwahla! Personally, I could care less who's in control anymore, all I wanna do is kill my enemy!
Comment by It's on your map dude. I never have done a battleground or PVP with a nice relaxing feeling what you should have playing a game, i assume. All i experience is frustration, angry and regret. If you ask me, loose the level ranges so that a lev 10 can beat up u level 85, move the resilience so that a pve gamer got equal chances against a pvp gamer and put it more up too accomplish targets instead of fighting eachother only.
Comment by Don't know if there was a change or something since I wasn't playing for some time but last 2 weeks i'm on tol barad about 6 times every day and on my realm Stormreaver-EU defense never ever wins. Not even close to win actually without even 1 tower destroyed and the game is already over so the faction that controls it switches every 2.
Comment by SylvanElf a nice relaxing feeling. Comment by Argondr Isn't there any equivalent to Archavon's Log?
So it's rather different than Wintergrasp in that respect. Worth noting for non-PvPers out there like me! Comment by how it is decided who gets in? Comment by z3r0gamer OK, first off, I havent played since the jousting tournament was implemented. We moved and I'm posting from a library. After reading these comments, I'd like to say something. To all those who think TB is broken due to lack of communication, There are several free VOIP clients that allow you to run your own server.
I recommend Mumble. To you people who say that you can't split the attacking force, you don't get the power of Hunters, Druids, and the Blackened Worg Steak. Sense Humanoid. Give the steaks to 3 people who mastered running like all hades is chasing them.
Have them count the people at each base, just a rough estimate, and split your forces accordingly. Popping slowfall before you jump, and using a movement-boost, like Sprint, or a mount, lets you get pretty far.
Finally, never underestimate PVE tactics. Polymorph is still premier CC, if popped at the start of the fight. Get people to respect the sleep, and Wyvren Sting hurts. Rogues, if you havent, try subtlety. Even if you don't kill them personally, you make casters a little happier with easy targets. Basically, throw them off. Pop talent skills that noone expects in PVP. Feign Death, hunters, when you really ARE about to die, and then pop up and use the aforementioned Wyvren Sting on a priest.
You're dead anyway, so annoy them. Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot to say. Comment by Mantrhax ITs really weird that anyone can join the fight at and with 10 sec get honor for loosing, or honor for wining without even fightin anyone Comment by chekk3 How many times you can do the tol barad PVP not the quests in a single day? Thank you. Comment by insaneblade if your under 90 atm be warned no one under 90 can que TB its either bugged or strickly made 90 only now and this is coming from alot of servers atm and blizzard has yet to give a response.
Comment by togahsisoka I am 85 never bought MoP and can currently not only que, but with the lack of TB interest, I've been able to hold TB single handed for the past 3 battles even when my opponent s are lvl 90!
Capturing TB is near impossible unless you outnumber the enemy now since you usually have only a handful of people in the raid. If you control TB, you can reacquire the flags faster than attackers can.
So as long as you avoid confrontations i. I am an 89 and went to join the battle and was kicked and told I am not a high enough level to join the battle.
Comment by Gaelen I've just turned level 86 and can't queue for this now, I get kicked with the message "too low level". Does this mean I won't be able to get in until I'm level 90? Comment by frakbt Is there any way to queue other than physically being on the island?
Comment by Rforn So, tol barad has been raised to lvl 90 but the quests and mobs for dailies are still for lvl 85? Comment by KingdomKnight I never had trouble getting in before but now that I boosted my Lock to 90 and am trying to get Honor for a transmog set I can't get in at all. It seems so strange to me, Blizzard's ideas. Comment by elstohn Ignorant, poorly conceived, and annoying.
No idea why bliz takes a lvl 85 xpac zone and makes it lvl 90 only. All 'world' pvp zones should auto scale to the lvl for the xpac ie, wintergrasp can allow anyone in, but they de-level to 80 bliz already has the reverse of this capability for regular battlegrounds wsg, ab av etc.
At least people could enjoy the content that was designed for their level. Comment by riker After solving WoW's greatest mystery Well here is the answer. First get to Stormwind city Go to the cataclysm portals above the Dwarven district Take the Tol Barad portal Wait for the battle to begin Hint: countdown should be at the center top of your screen Cross the big bridge that connects the two Tol Barad islands, once you do this and the battle has started, a message will pop up on your screen asking if you would like to join the battle.
Click Accept! NB: you don't have to wait for a battle to begin to join the queue, you can go there any time, cross the bridge and a message will pop up asking if you'd like to join the queue. Comment by Lucilite I just tried to solo TB. It probably would have been an easy win except that there was one Horde player there too, and he was higher level than me.
Since Just Another Day in Tol Barad requires doing the dailies sometimes when Alliance controls the BG, any chance I had of getting that achievement was probably gone 2 years ago :. Comment by Alvtron You can use Aviana's Feather if you need to go far. Saves a bit of time. Comment by Mystterious To reach this place, there is a portal in Stormwind , with other portals, outside Dwarven Dist. Comment by Shogol Currently there's only 15 minutes between Tol Barad battles instead of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and Wintergrasp is only 10 minutes.
Not sure if intentional or bugged. Hope it's intentional. Comment by debbyberry Today's interesting trivia: I'm picking up some reputations I never finished at the time, so I'm working on Tol Borad. Not a lot of traffic, as you might imagine; tonight, it was just me and a Horde rogue.
He won, so I hearthed out of the zone. As I resolved, I saw that I had a new item in my bag. I just got k AP for losing in Tol Borad. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I'll take it. Comment by Litebrite Are lvls unable to do tol barad dailies anymore? I cant see any of them, havent for a while now. Comment by BlueDragyn For anyone looking for the portal to Tol Barad on the Horde side, you'll find it on the top level at You'll see two orc NPCs with a portal between them.
Pull up your map and head over to the area between the I and S in Valley of Wisdom. Comment by Stormcan Ok this BG is getting ridiculous.
Either it's to alliance of horde. Blizzard needs to fix this one so it's an even BG. Comment by Elitecookie So one faction has had control over this for what seems like forever now.
Re-capture a point whenever one is taken. What is even the point of defending it? Or am i missing something? Does defending it count as a win? Comment by lithium91w Hello from
