Unfortunately, the Space Pirates who control Zebes have set up the Mother Brain for just that purpose. If you survive, it will be you and your acquired powers against the Mother Brain. Of course the yellow version is the rerelease, and it features art for Metroid 2 on it. There is no black box, only grey and yellow. The yellow is the re- release, but like Grey cart Zelda and Link it is actually harder to find. I say the Yellow version complete is worth more. Most first string NES games were in silver framed boxes, but damn near all of them had black fields for the background, even Contra.
Hey, I remember when I got my yellow Metroid. It was Christmas 95 I think. They were selling them at Wal-Mart for 10 dollars. It was a new reissue campaign for the Nintendo.
I might still have th box somewhere, but knowing me I probabaly don't! I think the yellow version may be just a little bit harder to find. No matter which variation, the game rocks.
